Critical Acclaim

"Seven Deadly Sins was extended twice, selling out for most of its two-month run. According to Actors Equity, 'Seven Deadly Sins,' produced at a cost of $580,000, was the biggest live professional theater production in the country at the time, employing 100 theater workers, from stage crew to designers and actors.”

Jordan Levin, The New York Times

“It’s liberating to understand we are in the business of live storytelling. The possibilities are really endless.”

Jordan Levin, The New York Times

“Theatrical achievements are measured in myriad ways, and this one has led to seven new works by significant playwrights, enthusiastic reviews, and jobs for multiple artists...a fresh demonstration of the engaging power of live theater.”

Christine Dolen, American Theater Magazine

“Nine months into the country’s battle against COVID-19, Miami New Drama and its boundlessly imaginative artistic director, Michel Hausmann, have figured out a way to turn vice into virtue, exploring the seven deadly sins in an ambitious return to live theater.”

Christine Dolen, Miami Herald

“When the coronavirus pandemic began, theater director Michel Hausmann sought to devise a safe and effective way of performing. Nine months later, he and his theater company have done it by making the world a stage -- at least part of it -- providing catharsis to performers and the public alike.”

Leila Macor, Yahoo! Style / AFP News

“Seven Deadly Sins is a safe and imaginative reminder of live theater’s undiminished power.”

Christine Dolen, Miami Herald

“The sheer existence of Miami New Drama’s experiential short-play collaboration 7 Deadly Sins feels as surreal as it is miraculous.”

John Thomason, Florida Theater On Stage
