As part of Miami New Drama’s 10th anniversary season, Miami Next Drama is a season-long fellowship for Miami-based artists — directors, playwrights, producers, or designers — offering hands-on access to a full professional season, mentorship from working industry artists, and dedicated space and resources to build a new artistic project.

From local stages to national spotlights—this is where Miami's next generation of theatrical visionaries get built.

Who can apply?
Any Miami-based theatre artist — director, playwright, producer, or designer — with pre-professional experience and the ability to commit to the full season.
What does the program provide?
Full access to Miami New Drama’s season — including Fellowship Labs, production shadowing, mentorship, and inclusion in staff meetings, readings, dress rehearsals, and community gatherings — followed by dedicated studio time and resources to develop your own work.
- Monthly cohort meetings, where fellows debrief on the season’s work, collaborate with one another, and share ideas with Miami New Drama staff for feedback
- Every other month, a session built around a guest artist from the season, offering a short workshop and/or Q&A with the cohort
- Ongoing opportunities to observe rehearsals and technical rehearsals throughout the season, plus invitations to select Miami New Drama production and staff meetings
Do I need a project already in mind?
Not necessarily. The fellowship provides the space to develop new work — a script, a staged reading, a design concept — and its form is left to each artist to define.
Is this a paid fellowship?
The program provides parking reimbursement, along with light refreshments and snacks at meetings.
Are cohort members required to collaborate?
No. Collaboration is welcome but not required.
