As the Artistic Director of Miami New Drama, I am thrilled and incredibly proud to share that our critically acclaimed World Premiere production, A Wonderful World, about the incredible life of Louis Armstrong, is making its Broadway debut. This is a pivotal moment and big win for Miami New Drama and our beloved community. It has been decades since an original world premiere production from Florida has made its way to Broadway!
This critically acclaimed musical, which first premiered at our very own Colony Theatre, has been heralded as “flat-out gorgeous and highly entertaining” and a production that “belongs on Broadway.” Now, that statement has come to fruition.
Featuring a slate of songs made famous by Armstrong himself, the show is based on the original book by Aurin Squire, an extraordinary talent and Miami native, who has made waves in both theatre and television with works like “This is Us” and “The Good Fight.”
Previews of A Wonderful World begin on October 16th at New York City’s iconic Studio 54 on 254 W 54th Street. It’s a venue befitting the grandeur and legacy of Armstrong’s influence. Bringing this production to Broadway reflects not only the universality of Armstrong’s appeal but also the world-class work that Miami New Drama continues to cultivate and export to our beloved community and beyond.
Join us on Broadway to witness this story of musical mastery and human spirit that promises not just to entertain but to inspire and resonate deeply with all who see it.
Thank You and Big hugs!
