MiND Book Club Announced

By November 4, 2026No Comments

Five plays. Five books. One season worth talking about.

This 10th anniversary season, we’re finding new ways to connect with our community and take the conversation beyond the stage. For each production, we’re selecting a book that explores a shared theme, history, or obsession. Read along, join the conversation, and experience the play on stage at the Colony Theatre.

Good books, good company, and a great night at the theatre.

Gandhi and the Jew

The read: Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India by Joseph Lelyveld

Chosen by: Playwright Harley Elias

When we meet: Sunday, November 15 at 1:30pm, before the matinee

You know the icon. Lelyveld, former executive editor of The New York Times, gives you the man: contradictory, stubborn, unfinished. That includes one of the most surprising friendships of his life. Read it, and you’ll walk into the theatre already arguing with yourself.

The Golem of Havana

The read: Announcing soon

When we meet: February 2027 TBD

The musical that started it all at the Colony comes home for our anniversary. The book pick is on its way.

The Great Behind

The read: Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand

Chosen by: Playwright Carmen Peláez

When we meet: April 2027 TBD

A poet with a famous nose. A love letter written in someone else’s name. Rostand’s 1897 classic has been borrowed, remade and reimagined for over a century. Read the original, then see what happens when Cyrano lands in Miami.

City Hall

The read: Coming Soon

When we meet: Date TBD

Cianuro Espumante

The read: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

When we meet: June 2027 TBD

The novel that made readers furious in 1926 and still makes them gasp today. Hercule Poirot, a village full of secrets, and an ending you will not see coming. One rule at this meetup: no spoilers in the lobby.

Where: The Colony Theatre, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach (location subject to change; we’ll confirm with registered readers).

Sign-ups for each meetup open as the season goes. Gandhi is open now. Grab the book, save your seat, and bring your opinions.
