Our Town

Our Town

OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER 19, 2017

Written by Thornton Wilder. Directed by Michel Hausmann.

Thornton Wilder’s iconic, Pulitzer Prize winning play is re-imagined for Miami in the 21 st century. The characters at the center of this beloved drama, set in small town New England, speak English, Spanish and Creole – the first time the Wilder Estate has allowed changes to the play’s text. By adding new layers of language and culture, Our Town expands to encompass everyone in a quintessential American – and human – story.

Christine Dolen, Miami Herald

"Happy tears are likely to result from Miami New Drama’s birthing of a brand-new, compelling vision for Wilder’s play.”

Aaron Krause, Theatrical Musings

"This production is also a celebration of our town in 2017.”

Aaron Krause, Theatrical Musings

"This production adds new layers to what it means to celebrate the “small,” seemingly “mundane” aspects of existence on earth.”

Aaron Krause, Theatrical Musings

"Hausmann and his company have prescribed a wishful dream of varied cultures totally integrated and supportive while maintaining something of their heritage.”

The creative team’s work is expert.”

Bill Hirschman, Florida Theater on Stage

"Miami New Drama’s diverse Our Town is a reminder, not just of who we want to be, but who we hope we are underneath.”
